Indiana Senate Honors State Sen. John Crane

STATEHOUSE (Feb. 28, 2024) – State Sen. John B. Crane (R-Avon) was honored today by the Senate in anticipation of his upcoming retirement from the Indiana General Assembly.

First elected in 2016 to represent Hoosiers in Senate District 24, which includes both Hendricks and Putnam counties, Crane has served in the Senate for eight years.

"It is amazing how quickly eight years of public service have gone by," Crane said. "My intention was never to make a career in politics, but rather, I felt a calling to serve. My goal was to try to bring some good to our government while helping people along the way, and I hope I've been able to do that."

Not one to focus on generating new laws, Crane has proactively worked behind the scenes to pursue leadership development within the Senate. He has been instrumental in creating an onboarding process for new senators over the last six years. Additionally, he created the annual Senate Majority Leadership Summit, which is designed to convene senators for thoughtful, high-level policy discussions about the future of Indiana prior to the legislative session.

Senator Crane will finish his service through the end of his term on Nov. 5. After his time in the Senate, he will continue his leadership development efforts by engaging with professional leaders across the state and beyond.
