Buchanan: Pension management oversight committee to hold first meeting of 2023

STATEHOUSE (Sept. 14, 2023) — The Interim Study Committee on Pension Management Oversight will hold its first meeting of 2023 in the Senate Chamber at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20, said State Sen. Brian Buchanan (R-Lebanon), chair of the committee.

This year, in preparation for the 2025 state budget, the committee will study cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) increases for retirees who participate in the Indiana Public Retirement System and the fiscal impacts of these increases to state and local units of government.

"Ensuring retired public employees, like former police officers and teachers, continue to have the financial stability promised to them is a top priority of the pension management oversight committee," Buchanan said. "Indiana's pension system has a reputation for being strong, and this committee will work to guarantee retirees' hard-earned money is safe and responsibly managed."

The committee consists of 14 members, divided evenly between members of the Senate and House of Representatives.

Those who cannot attend can stream the meeting online at iga.in.gov.
