Indiana Continues to Lead in Job Growth

Monday, October 31, 2016

Indiana is a leader in job growth, and the latest report from the Indiana Department of Workforce Development backs that up.

The state’s unemployment rate held at 4.5 percent in September, giving Indiana the lowest unemployment rate among our neighboring states. The rate is also lower than the national average.

Indiana has the fourth-highest employment growth rate in the country this year, and the Indiana Economic Development Corporation has secured commitments from employers to create over 17,000 new Hoosier jobs and invest $3.2 billion in their Indiana operations.

Indiana’s success has not gone unnoticed. The state has received numerous accolades this year including best in the Midwest for our business tax climate from the nonpartisan Tax Foundation, CNBC ranking Indiana first in the nation for the cost of doing business, and Chief Executive Magazine ranking the Hoosier state in the top 10 for doing business.

Indiana Senate Republicans are focused on continuing to attract high-paying jobs and making Indiana a state that works.
