January has arrived and with it, freezing temperatures. As temperatures drop, risks affecting people on and off the roads increase. A few simple health and safety precautions should be taken as winter progresses.
As you prepare your home and family for this winter, it is important to remember what type of heating devices should be used indoors. Do not bring any heating device that uses propane or charcoal inside your home. Also, do not use natural gas or wood burning outdoor fire places because these items can produce deadly carbon monoxide.

Remember to think about your furry family members at this time as well. An easy standard to abide by is: if it is too cold for you, it is too cold for them. Do not leave your pets outside. If you find a stray animal on the street or can no longer care for your own, visit your local humane society.
