Statement from State Sen. Ron Alting

State Sen. Ron Alting (R-Lafayette) made the following statement today in regard to commitments from the state regarding a potential water pipeline from Tippecanoe County to Lebanon:

STATEHOUSE (Dec. 21, 2023) — "I am happy to hear state officials commit to not taking any action to advance the water pipeline project for the LEAP District in Boone County until after the Indiana Finance Authority (IFA) completes its study, the study's findings are reviewed by an independent organization, and we have time to consider legislation in the General Assembly to protect water resources.

"I was also personally relieved and agree with the decision to completely remove the Indiana Economic Development Corporation from completing the water study, which was a personal goal of mine.

"Since first learning about this potential pipeline, I have asked the state to be open and transparent with locals about any work being carried out.

"Having local and state leaders meet was an important step toward ensuring the region's concerns are being heard and addressed, and I will continue to work with area residents, businesses and elected leaders as their voice in the Senate."
