Statement from State Sen. Mark Messmer

State Sen. Mark Messmer (R-Jasper) made the following statement regarding the conclusion of the 2024 legislative session:

STATEHOUSE (March 8, 2024) – "Today we concluded our legislative session after passing several bills that aim to improve the reading skills of Hoosier children, increase access to child care and speed up the replacement of lead water lines throughout Indiana.

"This year, I supported Senate Enrolled Act 1, which would offer a comprehensive plan to help students achieve reading proficiency so more children can succeed throughout their education.

"Addressing child care has also been a priority this session, and I supported Senate Enrolled Act 2, which would make child care more accessible and affordable for Hoosier families.

"I also voted for Senate Enrolled Act 5, which would enable utility companies to replace lead lines quicker, more efficiently and at a lower cost.

"Once in effect, these bills will help strengthen Indiana's economy, education system and the health of all Hoosiers, and I look forward to continued work with my Senate colleagues to find more ways we can make Indiana an even better state to live, work and raise a family."
