Penn High School graduate gains experience at Indiana Statehouse

STATEHOUSE (Feb. 15, 2024) – Kylee Leahy is serving as an intern for the Indiana Senate Majority Caucus during the 2024 legislative session, said State Sen. Linda Rogers (R-Granger).

Leahy, a resident of Mishawaka, is the daughter of Todd and Ginger-Lee Leahy. Leahy graduated from Penn High School and is currently a junior at Indiana University-Indianapolis studying journalism.

"Interns offer much needed help, especially during busy legislative sessions," Rogers said. "I'm excited to have a resident of our local community come to the Statehouse to gain unique professional experience."

As a press secretary intern, Leahy tracks legislation and media coverage, writes news release and op-eds, creates e-communication and social media strategies, and works with members of media.

"I am grateful to have this opportunity to learn more about state government and play a part in it," Leahy said.

Senate Majority interns work through the duration of the legislative session, which is scheduled to end by March 14.
