Bassler: General Assembly kicks off 2024 session

STATEHOUSE (Nov. 21, 2023) — State Sen. Eric Bassler (R-Washington) gathered with fellow legislators today at the Statehouse for Organization Day – the ceremonial start of the Indiana General Assembly.

Organization Day marks the annual first roll call of all state lawmakers. This day also provides members of the Senate and House of Representatives with the opportunity to meet before session officially reconvenes in January. By state law, the 2024 session will conclude on or before March 14.

"This year, I was fortunate to serve as chairman of the Legislative Council's Audit and Financial Reporting Subcommittee and as a member of the Interim Study Committee on Pension Management Oversight," Bassler said. "The work in these committees will allow us to continue to make good fiscal decisions so Indiana remains an affordable state to live, work and raise a family."

As the 2024 session gets underway, Bassler encourages residents of Senate District 39 to contact him with any questions or comments they may have. Bassler can be reached via email at Senator.Bassler@iga.in.gov or by phone at 800-382-9467.
